George H-Freyre was born in a small town called Remedios in the province of Las Villas in 1935 to a Spanish immigrant father and a third generation Creole mother of Lebanese descent. When he was around nine years old his parents moved to Santa Clara the capital of the province where he continued his school years till finally in 1954 he was able to enroll at the University of Habana in the midst of a political chaos. Later on he transferred to the University of Santo Tomas de Villanueva when the public one was closed due to student strikes. During that period, he became involved with a group engaged in anti-goverment activities to overthrow the dictator Batista, as many students and people were doing at that time. Later on, these activities won him a post as a General Attache to open the Cuban Embassy in Manila, Philippines Islands with the Ambassador to the same, Mr. Sergio Perez y Perez. Jorge H-Freyre (His Spanish name) resigned that post eighteen months later, September 28, 1961.
He left the Philippines Islands flying to Tokyo, Japan where after a month he was able to obtain a visa as a political refugee to enter Mexico where he joinned Sergio Perez y Perez. Six months later, he entered USA as a permanent resident, and went to live in San Francisco, CA. Now a retiree, he spends his time between Florida and Malaga.
